Files added with an MST do not inherit parent folder permissions

Hi,

After some investigation, I have found the cause of my problem...

I JUST HOPE I WILL GET SOME FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS FROM INSTALLSHIELD !!!!!

What I am trying to do is to add 2 files to a package via a transforms file. The problem is that those files don't inherit their parent folder permissions (C:\Program Files\..).

Here is the reason why:

During the installation, the 2 files are first exctracted to temporary files, in the user's profile (Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temp) who is an administrator.

Then the files are MOVED to their correct location...
When you MOVE a file from one place to another on the same partition, permissions are retained.

So, this behaviour is absolutely logical... but not expected !!

Why doesn't Windows Installer copy the file instead of moving it??

??WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW TO CORRECT THIS BEHAVIOUR??

Well, I found the cause of the problem. Hope someone will find the solution (not a workaround like MS likes)

Thanks for your comprehension.

We have identified this as an issue and is fixed in the upcoming release of AdmiNStudio. When the beta for this release becomes available soon, you will be to find the fix for this problem.

Unfortunately we do not have a workaround for this issue at this time.
