Hya, I am new to this so forgive me in advance for asking such a basic simple question.

I have created an MSI package of Visio Viewer using AdminStudio 3.5 Repackager. However, when I install the software, it opens the .vsd and .vdx files in Internet Explorer, as it should, but doesn't open up the file itself, just puts a Visio Icon at the top left hand corner of the screen.

Anyone got any clues as to what I need to do to correct this?

Thanks

hiya

first look in the registry keys view

if you see any entries for .vsd or .vdx then they are probably wrong, but read them anyway. they may contain things like arguments to VisioViewer.EXE (or whatever it is)

Find the Component VisioViewer.EXE and go to advanced->extensions
make sure that you have .vsd and .vdx

have you had a look at the new book "Administrator's Introduction to Application Repackaging and Software Deployment using Windows Installer"
you can get it from www.installsite.biz

Thanks, I will take a look at this and see whats happening.

Got the book - good bedtime reading - it has helped immensely, but you know how it is sometimes, no matter where you look you can't find the answer!
