Adding an upgrade code to an MST

When creating an MST for a vendor supplied MSI in the InstallShield 2011 Editor, how would I add upgrade codes for previouse versions that the MSI does not have?

According to InstallShield support, this cannot be done in an MST. A wrapper script will be needed to remove the previous versions.

Seriously? WPS allows one to apply upgrade codes in the Transforms. Which most packagers utilize the MST's for. Maybe this is something Installshield should rememdy in the next SP. How about it Flexera?
