I have been asked to create a registry key of type Quadword. I can do this from a custom action in C++ , but I would rather have the registry associate with the component. Is there any way to do this.

I forgot to mention that this does the exact same thing if you click the Install button. The log file looks ldentical , the last thing is InstallWelcome.

I have a strange problem. The InstallShield freezes on Cancel. The only way to kill it is to end task. This works with other languages and I even tried deleting the release configuration and re-creating it. It seems as long as Chinese is picked for the language this happens. It’s been quite a while since I worked on an installscript MSI. I have a customer that I recently put branding in for and all the dialogs are set except for the Setup progress dialog. Where do I change that one?

I have an installer I am modifying. It is a basic msi and has some installshield messageboxes. The problem is that many times the message boxes will be hidden behind everything. Other than changing these messages boxes to MSI dialogs, is there a way to insure the focus is on the Messagebox?

The previous reply in the correct approach. You can however use one project and use release flags for your 32 BIT or 64 Bit apps and specify the template summary on the build. If you don't want .exes for your customer, you can use chained MSI or installshield .prq to wrap both msi files in one set up launcher.

We are trying to use workflow manager. Most people are just giving up. For example I have a package that I entered all the information. I am stuck at the repackage stage. I have already re-packaged it and its in user testing. The workflow progress says repackage 0% complete. There is no link you can click on to enter data. We have a couple projects like this just stuck in various stages. I have used admin studio for years and tried to use this workflow manager a couple times and it looks like this is as far as I will get.

Since upgrading to Installshield 2012, I am getting a very weird problem. running iscmdbld -p Installer.ism -a NPM_X86 -r Rel1 -C COMP -f x86, works fine running the same cmd in ant give a strange error exec returned: -1073741819 Its weird as this worked just fine until upgrading from Installshiled 2011.

Use the MSI command line builder. Its under tools in installshield. Its very helpful.

I have had some have me take this out with a really simple querey . Its about 4 lines of code. I do suggest you keep it there as most people want to see the installshield brand.

Pretty simple , you need to point to the .ism ,not the msi. If it still crashes then ISWiAuto18 is not registered.

Its not the OS, but rather some set up with Java. Check the JRE version, JDK version and enviroment variables such as classpath.

I have had simular problems, not hard coding and chaning it to a non-advertized short cut seems to work.
