I see where in the Setup Design view I can highlight a component and set various properties. But I don't see where I can select which hive to register the component in... Our software is used by hospitals which typically require an Administrator to install the software. What happens is, that when registering Redemption.dll and Redemption64.dll, if the Administrator immediately runs the software and attempts to use the Calendar in our program (which talks to Outlook and uses Redemption to avoid the annoying confirmations) the Administrator gets the appointments just fine. But after he/she logs off and the user logs on, they can't use the calendar because it's probably getting registered in the HKCU (current user) which was the Administrator. How can I configure the Install to make sure the component is registered properly in HKLM? Thanks. Bob

I have updgraded my PC to Windows 8. I am able to create installs fine using the new OS, with one exception. When I try to add a code signing security certificate to the install it crashes at the end of the build. How can I fix this?

What version of Installshield includes this redistributable? or, If I use the prerequisite editor, can I have the same control over it as I would if it were the regular Redistributable? I really don't need any of the functions of a newer version of Installshield... Thanks. bob

I have added a custom Checkbox Control to the SQLServerSelect dialog and would like to access its value in my installscript. Can someone please help me to know how to use this function correctly (or another function), etc. so I can use to access it's value? I've tried the following function (CtrlGetState) but It doesn't seem to work as expected, or I'm probably doing it wrong. I'm probably coding it wrong. Can someone please give me guidance. THANKS!!!!!!!! I've tried the following, but I'm not getting it right (or its the wrong function) NUMBER nState, nResult; STRING szIfEncrypt,szMsg,szServer; //Control Identifier #define ENCRYPTCHECKBOX 17818 //////////////////////////////////////// //Display dialog Dlg_SQLServerSelect: szMsg = ""; szServer = MW_SERVERNAME; SQLRTInitialize2(); nResult = SQLServerSelect( szMsg, szServer ); ///////////////////////////////////////// //Here it is nState = CtrlGetState("DialogId_10110", ENCRYPTCHECKBOX); //The (name) of the checkbox is CheckBox1, its Control Identifier is 17818. //The Dialog name seems to be DialogId_10110 and it's Resourse Identifier is 10110. I've also tried "SQLServerSelect" with the same results. if (nState = BUTTON_CHECKED) then MessageBox( "button checked", 0 ); szIfEncrypt = "true"; endif;

That doesn't seem to be the correct way to refer to that dialog. :confused: Does anyone know if we are on the right path, but just not referring to the SQLServerSelect Dialog correctly? Or is there another way to get the value of the checkbox I've added to that dialog? The (name) of the checkbox is CheckBox1, its Control Identifier is 17818. The Dialog name seems to be DialogId_10110 and it's Resourse Identifier is 10110. Thanks in advance for any ideas... bob

I asked previously that if .NET version 3.0 or 3.5 was installed that it would also include the key that we use to verify that version 2.0 is installed. So if 3.5 is installed, we won't install 2.0, if we just look for the 2.0 key in the registry (which is the default rule for the 2.0 prerequisite).

What I'm looking for is the Icon to be displayed if a file the program acts upon is displayed. For example, We have a file we send out to clients that has an extension of: .dictionary I'd like it to have an icon when you see it as a file in the file manager or as an attachment in an email. The EXE that acts on the file has the icon built in- but I'm fine with also distributing the .ico file if I can get this to work. bob

I need to associate an icon with a file type. I am installing the EXE that "runs" when I "Open" the associated file. The association works but I'd like the Icon to display when the associated file is displayed in the Windows Explorer, and when it appears in as an Attachment in Emails. Thanks. bob

Thank you. But I am still a bit confused. Are you saying that if 3.0 or 3.5 of .NET is already installed, then the key (2.0.50727) that we normally test for in the registry will return true (exist)? bob
