Summary

This article explains what to do if setup issues are warning that you are not able to create databases.

Symptoms

Spider setup issues are warning that you are not able to create databases.

Cause

The user you have provided to the setup to connect to the SQL server (if you did not specify a separate user, it is the user account you are logged on with) does not have the permission to create databases on the server.

Resolution

  1. Assign the user the privilege to create databases
  2. Create the databases you want to use, using an account with the privileges to do so

Additional Information

It is possible to use databases that have been created beforehand by an administrator, in this case you do not need the privileges to create users on the SQL server.

For a regular Spider installation you need the following databases

  • Edition SAM, ITM, Enterprise
    • Core
    • Core_TempDB
    • Core_SessionState
    • Asset
    • Licence
    • Contract
    • Recognition
    • Integration (optional)
  • Edition Contract
    • Core
    • Core_TempDB
    • Core_SessionState
    • Contract
    • Integration (optional)
