msi file size and merge modules question
Hello
the install engineer before me used a merge module for every folder in our app. ie, created a merge module ism file for each folder. one main ISM file loads all the merge module and generates the msi file.
This has made it very tedious to move components from one folder to another, ie one merge module ism file to another as our application requirements changed. I've decided to consolidate the installer project into a single ism file by merging the component tables from the various merge module ISM files into the main ISM file.
One problem i have noticed with this is that msi file is substantially larger than the msi file that was generated from the mergemodules, 46 mb, vs 38mb. Question is: does using merge modules reduce the size of the MSI?
is there some setting I am missing to compress the msi further?
thanks
yann

Have you tried the 'Optimize size' option in msi Release settings?
