can you detect the user's version of flash?

I need to build a installer that checks whether or not a user has flash and if so what version. Is this possible? If so, how?

I would try the registry. For my current version the key is
HKLM\Software\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\CurrentVersion (Value is 10,0,12,36)

This might be also helpful: I found under "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash" an "install.log" which has multiple registry entries
