Before installing version 2021R1 of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications, you will need to fully uninstall the previous version.

1. Stop the previous version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin as well as the Reporting and Cognos services.

To do this:

a. Open a Command Prompt window and navigate to the installation directory for FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin.

b. Type the command: flexnet stop

c. End any associate Java/OpenJDK processes.

2. Uninstall the earlier version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications using the instructions in the following help sections: Uninstalling the Admin Component and Uninstalling FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Components.

If you receive an error when trying to uninstall the previous version, try the steps below: 

1. Open the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications install directory and check if the Config and JVM directories exist. 

  • If these files don’t exist, the uninstallation of the previous version was completed successfully, and you can proceed with installing version 2021R1.
  • If these files do exist, continue with the steps below.

2. Check for frozen Java/OpenJDK processes associated with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.

  • End any frozen Java/OpenJDK processes that are still running.

3. Find the zerog XML file on your device, save a backup copy, and then delete the original file.

4. Reinstall the previous version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.

5. Uninstall the previous version of FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications again.

6. If uninstalling the previous version is now successful, proceed with installing the latest version 2021R1.
