Networkshare inventory

Hi all, customers are asking for best practice on how to perform inventory collection of software applications placed on network drives via our non-Windows FlexNet Inventory Agent. They already have tried to change the ini-file with the path they want to include, but this ini-file seems to get over-written after some time. How can this be configured permanently and is this the correct approach or should for example the mgsconfig-tool being used? Thanks & best regards Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Why exactly is the agent configuration being overwritten? Is it local changes, that are changed, after the agent communicated with the beacon server? Would it work to change the folder settings on the WebUI configuration page?

Also: Is the agent installed or run via script (cronjob)? You might just need to add the -o includeDirectory parameter to define your extra paths.

Please note the first paragraph in the picture below, taken from teh 2019 R1 GatheringFlexNetInventory.pdf. Could this be related to your issue?

It is important to note there are additional keys that must be set to scan mounted file shares. This also will cause the run time fo the agent to be increased.
