I'm getting ready to upgrade WFM 2018 to 2020. The Install Guide says it will upgrade 2018 in place. The Release Notes say anything older than 2019 R2 needs to be uninstalled first. Which one is correct?

Hi,
If you are planning to upgrade from WFM 2018 to WFM 2020 please perform the following steps:
1.Launch IIS and go to Sites
2.Stop AdminStudio Web Components 2018 Application in IIS
3.Take a database backup of WFM 2018.
4.Now install the latest version of WFM 2020 Application
5.Lunch Adminstudio Configuration wizard and Upgrade to the latest version.
6.In IIS verify AdminStudio Web Components 2019 Application is stopped.
7.Now start AdminStudio Web Components 2020 Applicationin
8.Perform an IIS reset
Now you should be able to connect to WFM 2020 and can start using it without any issues.
Note: Even you can uninstall WFM 2018 as well.In that case start from the 3rd step and skip step 6.
Thanks,

If you are telling me I can uninstall 2018, I take it this will not in fact be an in place upgrade. Is that correct?

Yes, that's correct. Its not an in place upgrade. It will be an fresh installation of Workflow Manager 2020.
Thanks,

This worked. I uninstalled 2018 and then installed 2020. There was no 2019 anywhere for me to have to stop. Thanks for the help.
