Windows Installer Service not running after MSI setup

Hi,

I have repackaged Photoshop Elements2 in a MSI file.
When I install the MSI file, it's ok.
But when I re-logon a windows XP session, I can't launch any MSI setup. It says "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed..."

Any idea?

Thanks

I have deleted in the package the registry key:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ServiceCurrent

and now I do not have the problem anymore!

Does somebody know what is the role of this resgistry key?

Thanks
ChristopheRATP,

According to the Microsoft support web site (support.microsoft.com):

"CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL SUBKEYS ENTRIES
This key contains parameters that control system startup, such as subsystems to load, the size and location of paging files, and so on.

NOTE: The system must be restarted for any changes in the Control key to take effect."

The MSI app must have written to this entry, perhaps in error. You might want to check the registry entries in your MSI using the Direct Editor in DevStudio/Developer or by using Orca.
