Chris, I agree with you in adding the files by hand. However it seems that the primary output (web app, dll file) is no longer being added to the bin directory but in the root directory of the application. Prior to version 2013 it worked fine, now it have cut and paste after installing the program on the server. Any thoughts on how to get it go into the bin folder like the others. Do I have add that file by hand like the other files? Yes, its me Bruce...

At the end of the install the last billboard shows that it was successfu. It also has a question (checked by default) that asks if the user wants to check for updates to the product just installed. Is it possible to remove that question or change the default from check to unchecked?

It seems to me you are trying to make it complicated. If you create a project in VS2012 you can see the references to the dlls, etc. by clicking on the Solution Explorer/Reference on the project list. Those items must be included in the final exe or referenced by the exe when the program runs. Installshield will tell you it cannot find those files yet it will tell you the program ran fine. And if you check the Installshield primary output list it will show all the files but some will be loaded and some wont. Yet they are all in the same place. Stop making excuses and try this: Create a project that uses 3rd party files. Just use the wizard that install shield uses and then build. See what errors you get. We really do not care how many projects you have worked on or how great you think you are, in my business you wouldn't last ten minutes with that atitude. What we want is a solution or a means to help find one.

But it should still work. I should not have to go nuts trying to get a function to work that is being advertised as working. If it was just me not a problem, but i am not alone on some of the issues with the software.

Sorry you like to do all the hard work, I for one would love the product to work as a replacement for VS. I am pretty sure there a lot more of us than you that would love to have it work right.

I few the same way as you do. I have never felt so unimportant as I do now when I try to create a new install file. (setup.exe) I used to own InstallShield when Wise owned it and I never had any of the issues they have now. Further they were always willing to give us advice on how to solve issues even if it had nothing to do with their product. Now...well you have experienced first hand how they treat the problem. But I bet if you bought their latest and greatest advance version they might help...

I have the same problem and wrote to you earlier, apparently it did not make it. I had to rebuild the project from scratch. Start a new project. Add one page at a time from your old project and compile. It will then add the dependent dll as needed to the setup. Once done you will have a setup.exe file to use. However it should be noted that if you delete the setup project and try it again, you have to start all over. Apparently this is an existing bug not yet fixed and according to some Install Shields post not even understood.

We had to create a new project and add each webpage one at a time compiling between them so that the file would be found by the InstallShield portion. However after doing all that work and closing VS we found that we had to do it again when we reopened it. We finally decided to drop Install Shield and wait until they mature. Doing some research we found that this problem has existed for some time and is also an issue with their major versions as well. Their only solution was that they were looking into it...

This is the error I get everytime I try to compile my project. Ironically I was able to get it to work when I started a brand new empty visual studio project and added the setup project as well. Then by adding each required reference in the visual studio propject it was correctly added to the setup project. But when I deleted the setup project and readded it the error came back. steps: create an empty visual studio project add a default.aspx file and save. create an new setup project. fill out the setup steps and compile. It will have the correct files needed to run the page. However if you delete the setup project and readd it, it will fail. Apparently this has been an ongoing problem with your product for some time now and not just the LE version either. Is there a workaround?

When I run the setup on the web server (TestServer) I notice that it creates a virtual directory in the website but not a web application. I then have to convert the virtual directory in the web site to a web application. The default web site is not being used because it is stopped. Any suggestions on what i am doing wrong. I chose web application when i created the setup file.
