Hello Please help. When I run the uninstall I receive a 1606 error - Can not access network. Which is correct the problem is I don't care if this particular path for a feature is uninstalled or not. Is there a way to ignore a feature during the uninstall? Thanks in advance.:)

I have some fonts that have to be installed with our application which have to be installed in the fonts folder (C:\windows\fonts) and in [ALLUSERSPROFILE]\documents\resources\fonts folder. I used the component wizard > selected the font file type to install the fonts into the fonts folder. I used the component wizard > create components for me using best practices. The fonts install in both folders OK. But there is shortcuts in the fonts folder which point to the fonts in the [ALLUSERSPROFILE]\documents\resources\fonts folder which is causing problems and looks very untidy. Is there a better way to install fonts in two different locations? I am using installshield 2008 pro. Thanks in advance

I am trying to launch an app at the end of an installation by checking a check box or not. This all works find in XP, but when I use Vista nothing happens. The Custom Action is set to: Asynchronous no wait for completion Immediate execution. Always execute. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance? 😞

I have managed to find a solution to this problem after trawling the web. This is possibly not the best way to fix this but as no one has had any other suggestions. I moved the RemoveExistingProduct sequence to just before the costinitialize sequence. This seems to have fixed the above problem.

I have a strange problem with installshield 2008 pro. I install some fonts along with my installation, the problem is when I do a major upgrade it uninstalls these fonts, but doesn't install them back again? I use the component wizard in installshield to install these fonts, I can't think what I have done wrong. Also I can't make these fonts permenant as there may be changes made to them in the future. Anyone any ideas. Thanks in advance

The in-script execution is immediate and the return processing is synchronous (check exit code). I have noticed that the vista UAC shield has disappeared from my setup.exe icon. All I wanted to do was compress the files to a cabinet so my CD image wouldn't be so big. Thanks in advance for any solutions.

Hello At the end of my installation I have an option to run a 3rd party software to install some drivers. I created 2 CD releases one without compressed CAB files and one with CAB files. The release without compressed CAB files works fine. The release with CAB files keeps giving me a 1721 error but only on VISTA!! Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? I am using installshield 2008 pro. Thanks in advance.

I currently install a 3rd party tool which is then used in a custom action, at the moment this 3rd party tool stays installed, I was wondering if possible to remove the 3rd party tool once the custom action is completed? Any ideas how to do this or if it is possible? I am using installshield 2008 pro. Thanks in Advance Tracey

When I run my install from C:\apps\myapp\2.0.000.0\2.0.000.0 I get the following error 1308 source file not found C:\apps\myapp\2.0.000.0\2.0.000.0program files\HRH\myapp\Documentation\tutorial\core\core - structures.pdf. Verify that the file exists which it does. I though it could be the length of the path but files with the same path and longer names are installing with no problems? Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

Is there an easy way to get the UNC path in a basic MSI project? I would use installscript if I had to and was pointed in the correct direction. Thanks in advance

I have managed to fix the 1631 error I forgot to put the reg in the command line so my command line is now: reg add HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\gravitaswellmanager /v DependsOnService /t REG_MULTI_SZ /d WinHTTPAutoProxySvc "[SystemFolder]reg.exe" I still have the problem of the registry not being created please help

Looking through a more detailed log I keep getting a return value 1613. See log below: MSI (s) (A0:90) [11:54:07:885]: Doing action: AddDependancy Action 11:54:07: AddDependancy. Action start 11:54:08: AddDependancy. MSI (s) (A0:90) [11:54:08:120]: Doing action: RunEventRegistrationTool Action ended 11:54:08: AddDependancy. Return value 1631. Anybody any ideas?

This doesn't seem to work. I just get error 1920 verify you have sufficient priveledges. I have tried adding the registry using a custom action (custom action > new exe > path referencing directory), and try and run the reg.exe file, everything runs fine no errors but the registry key is not added. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. It works fine when I run manually. The custom action looks like below: Working dir: windows system32 folder Filename and commandline: REG ADD HKLM\system\currentdataset\services\gravitaswellmanager /v DependsOnService [SystemFolder]reg.exe return processing: Synchronous(ignore exit code) in script execution: Deferred execution in system context Install exec sequence: After install services condition: Not installed Anyone any ideas what I am doing wrong?
