Hello all, I have added a custom dialog to my InstallScript MSI for IS2009. Question: From InstallScript, can I manipulate the properties of a textbox field on my custom dialog before calling it? Basically, I want to make certain textbox fields visible or Not Visible, before calling the custom dialog. If this can't be done, what suggestions might you give me to make this happen. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello, I'm using IS2009 InstallScript MSI project. I have added the following code to the script: Dlg_ITC: bITC = FeatureIsItemSelected(MEDIA,"\Applications"); if (bITC) then szTitle = "Interactive Teller Settings"; szMsg = ""; szAWVP = ""; szField1 = "Administration Web Virtual Path:"; nResult = SdShowDlgEdit1(szTitle, szMsg, szField1, szAWVP); CtrlGetText(DLG_ITC, AdminWebPath, szAWVP); MsiSetProperty(ISMSI_HANDLE, "AdminWebPath", szAWVP); endif; if (nResult = BACK) goto Dlg_SdFeatureTree; This will first check to see if a feature called applications is selected. Then it will show the dialog sdShowDlgEdit1. After showing this dialog, I do a CtrlGetText to get the text from the textbox that the user enters. This all works perfectly. Next I want to set this value in the property I have created called "AdminWebPath". After this, I run a custom action and look at the value of the property. This is always null. This line doesn't seem to work: MsiSetProperty(ISMSI_HANDLE, "AdminWebPath", szAWVP); Help please

We are doing a Major Upgrade. When the Major Upgrade occurs, it runs the currently installed .msi to uninstall it, then runs the new version to install it. PROBLEM: We have a custom action that runs when we remove our software. The problem is, when a Major Upgrade occurs, it is running when the original .msi runs. Since we are upgrading our software, we don't want it to run. Only when we are truly uninstalling our software for good. The condition on this custom action should be something like: REMOVE="ALL" and (NOT Upgrading) I can't seem to find a way to do the (NOT Upgrading) Thanks in advance for all your responses. BTW, InstallScript MSI project in IS2009. Thanks

Hello, My software has about 20 .dlls that get installed into many different folders. From everything i've seen, InstallShield can't have a component install to more than one location. How do you experts handle something like this? My install package is getting extremely large and slow because of this. I was considering making 1 component with the files, install it to a temporary area, then writing a custom action to copy these files to the necessary folders. This seemed a bit cheesy though. BTW, i'm using instalshield 2009 installscript msi project.

Hello Kathy, I noticed you happen to work for the same company as myself. Small world eh? I'm in the Northville michigan office. Onto my issue, i've used files&folders view, setup design view, and just plain creating a new component to make these folders. In any case, it doesn't work. Whats really funny though, when I look at files&folders, it actually shows the folder structure exactly like I want it. But upon install, it doesn't show up that way.

I have created a new install script msi project. I have a few folders that are created, but will be empty after the install is complete. The structure should be: [INSTALLDIR]Processing/BundleImportServerMonitor [INSTALLDIR]Processing/DistributionServerTemp [INSTALLDIR]Processing/ManualImportFolder After installation, I get the 3 folders above created, but they are directly off the [INSTALLDIR] folder, not off the Processing folder as desired. I've tried everything I can think of, i've created the above structure threw: files & folders, Setup Design and component creation. Nothing works.

Hello, I just can't seem to get the command line parameters working when trying to run my install package from the command line. Bascially, I want to run my install shield 2008 package, sending in a parameter for the version. In the past, I used to set a Path Variable to the version number, this is then used to determine where to get all my files. How can install shield receive a parameter and set a path variable with it? Thanks in advance for all your help
