Whoops - I knew I forgot something. Thanks Josh - that works a treat now. All I need to do now is to figure out what command line to use for "Modify".
Install: /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=\"[ISParcelFeatureInstall]\"" Remove: /s /x /v"/q" Repair: /s /f /v"/q" Modify: /s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=\"[ISParcelFeatureInstall]\" REMOVE=\"[ISParcelFeatureRemove]\""
I think this *should* work, but doesn't 😞 I'm thinking it's probably an issue with the detection of what features are currently installed, as the Suite GUI gives me all features unticked in a modify scenario, regardless of what features have previously been installed. Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply Josh - but I can't get it to work 😞 I have made a simple install using IS2012Spring, that contains a list of features and sub-features. This has been compiled to create a single compressed setup.exe file. I have also made a simple Suite install that adds this setup.exe as a package. The suite install has a list of features and sub-features identical to the packaged setup.exe. The "EXE Silent Command Line" under "Install" within the package has the following command
/s /v"/qn ADDLOCAL=\"[ISParcelFeatureInstall]\""
I compile the suite project, run the install and select only some features from the tree, but all features of the package are being installed. I've obviously missed something, but I can't see what. I've attached a log created by running the suite project with "/debuglog" What am I doing wrong/missed?

I have a simple MSI with 3 type 2097168 CA. Each is associated with the removal of a particular feature, such as: REMOVE><"Feature1" OR (REMOVE="ALL" AND &Feature1=2) Each Powershell script functions as designed when only one feature is being removed, but if I attempt to remove more than one feature in a single operation I get the following
MSI (s) (38:58) [07:29:04:166]: Doing action: PSRemoveFeature1 Action 07:29:04: PSRemoveFeature1. Action start 07:29:04: PSRemoveFeature1. MSI (s) (38:B0) [07:29:04:207]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI696D.tmp, Entrypoint: PS2 InstallShield 07:29:04: Beginning Run PowerShell... InstallShield 07:29:06: Finished Run PowerShell Action ended 07:29:06: PSRemoveFeature1. Return value 1. MSI (s) (38:58) [07:29:07:063]: Doing action: PSRemoveFeature2 Action 07:29:07: PSRemoveFeature2. Action start 07:29:07: PSRemoveFeature2. MSI (s) (38:04) [07:29:07:103]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL: C:\Windows\Installer\MSI74C4.tmp, Entrypoint: PS3 InstallShield 07:29:07: Beginning Run PowerShell... Return value 3.
What am I doing wrong? Why can't REMOVE="ALL" trigger each Powershell script sequentially?

Now I have a request to do the same thing with an included basic MSI "setup.exe". I've tried what has been described below, but it doesn't seem to be working the same way. What's the trick with this type?

joshstechnij wrote: This behavior should be resolved in IS 2012 Spring SP1. Previously, the UI would update the displayed states correctly but internally would set the parent level features to not install. This should be corrected so that the features are selected in this scenario and correctly match the state shown in the UI. Yep - I've tried this in a mickey mouse suite install, and it appears to be working as described. Thanks for your help

I have a simple MSI with multiple features, and a simple suite with multiple features. I know you can't associate these through the GUI, but I have manually modified the suite xml file like this: and yet it doesn't install the MSI at all. Do I have the syntax wrong?

InstallShield 2012 Spring

Anyone seen this before? I've checked the forums, but I can't see anything like this... I have created 3 simple MSI based installs, and a suite that installs them all where the features in in a simple hierarchy like this: Feature1 (contains MSI1) Feature2 (contains MSI2) Feature3 (contains MSI3) When I start the suite install all features are selected by default. If I install from here, all works as expected. If I click to deselect Feature1, all features are then deselected as expected. My problem arises if I click to select Feature3... The parent features Feature1 and Feature2 are then marked as selected, but on clicking install nothing is installed, even though I get a "Successfully installed suite" dialogue. I've attached the logfile generated from "/debuglog", but I can't see anything in there that would explain this behaviour. Can anyone help?
