Silent mode = SILENT. You won't see any messages. Best bet is to write them to a log file so you can review after the installation is complete.

In your custom panel I see installedProducts = getProductFromZerogReg(PRODUCT_NAME, PRODUCT_VERSION); . Make sure that PRODUCT_NAME and PRODUCT_VERSION variables are set to proxy.substitute("$PRODUCT_NAME$") and proxy.substitute("$PRODUCT_VERSION$")

To me it looks like your problem is finding the response file. SETTING COMMAND LINE SYS-PROP: SILENT_INSTALL_RESPONSE_FILE=C:\cabi-windows-3_1_ 0_0\test.ini IACommandLineParser:: ---ending--- Command Line Arguments contain illegal values. Usage: install [-f | -options] (to execute the installer) Also, the response file should be a properties file, not an ini file. I don't think it will like your [sections]. Try using # as a comment.

I create a WLST .py file and execute java weblogic.WLST startup.py In that py file, I have a timeout, so if it doesn't start after so long, it gives an exit code which I then look for. I then configure WL and shut it down. But if you want to keep it running, I wrote custom code which basically uses the ANT project and ExecTask with setSpawn(true) while launching the startWebLogic.cmd file. I don't know if it is the best way, but it works for me. public void install(InstallerProxy ip) throws InstallException { // Get IA variables String domainDirName = ip.substitute("$WL_DOMAIN_DIR$"); //String domainName = ip.substitute("$WL_DOMAIN_NAME$"); String logFileName = domainDirName + "/adminserver.log"; boolean isWindows = ((System.getProperty("os.name").toLowerCase()).indexOf("win") > -1); // Initialize Ant project Project p = new Project(); p.init(); // Setup re-direct file and workinf dir Variable envRedirectLog = new Variable(); envRedirectLog.setKey("WLS_REDIRECT_LOG"); envRedirectLog.setValue(logFileName); File domainDir = new File(domainDirName); ExecTask et = new ExecTask(); et.setProject(p); et.setSpawn(true); et.setDir(domainDir); et.addEnv(envRedirectLog); // Create Arguments to execute Argument commandLine = et.createArg(); boolean resolveExecutable = false; String executable = null; String argValue = null; if (isWindows) { resolveExecutable = true; executable = "cmd.exe"; argValue = "/c " + domainDir.getAbsolutePath() + "\\startWebLogic.cmd"; } else { resolveExecutable = false; executable = "/bin/sh"; argValue = domainDir.getAbsolutePath() + "/startWebLogic.sh"; commandLine.setValue("-c"); } et.setExecutable(executable); et.setResolveExecutable(resolveExecutable); commandLine.setValue(argValue); et.execute(); // Sleep for linux startups or it goes too quickly try { Thread.sleep(5000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }

Is the custom code being invoked correctly? Check the path to the class and the jar file. I have see numerous times that even the customcode action being called is incorrect. For example, the action in IA is "Execute CustomCode" while a Custom Panel is what the user really wanted. To help you out, run your installer in debug mode and put a System.out.println in your custom code and see if the line gets printed.

You could try a "Show Message Dialog" I've had that appear in the middle of the "Install" step. Can you also do a Jump to, some place in the Post-Install? Sometimes what I do, is just install the files during the install step, then in the post install, I execute scripts, etc.

Most likely this is a sealed jar file. I thought that IA extracts all of your dependency jar files and then creates one big one. What you can try to do is to "install" the jar file to a temp directory, then load the jar file into a classloader, then you should be able to use it. Search the old forums for ClassPathHacker.

One key piece of information here is the use of the "Back" button. If on screen A you enter xyz and then on screen B, where a default is what is entered on screen A, then you go "Back" to screen A, enter abc, and then you get to screen B, I am assuming you want to see abc. As designed by IA, you will see xyz. This is because of the way IA sets up the UI.

Has anyone created a stand-alone app used for creating customCodePanels? I am looking for a simple app that displays a panel with a similar layout as when running the installer. I am looking for this to save time when developing and making my custom panels pretty without having to create a jar, create an installer, and run the installer. The app I currently have is a simple JFrame, but I don't have the layout correct.

Use the Properties file reader plugin to read in the properties file as InstallAnywhere variables. Then create your panel using those variables.

Can you post your project, or a sample project that replicates this? That would help figure out what is not working.
