An alternative is to use open from within a script or the Terminal application, e.g. open installer.app --args -f fred/iaproperties.txt add the -g option to run the installer in the background open -g installer.app --args -f alf/bert/ia.properties - in which case its up to you to work out when its finished !

It appears that the problem is related to selecting a different icon for the uninstaller in the Create Uninstaller action. If I change this back to using the default icon then the built uninstaller is signed correctly.

In fact if I try to sign the "Change PRODUCT Installation.exe" file that is produced by the installer I get: SignTool Error: SignedCode::Sign returned error: 0x800700C1 %1 is not a valid Win32 application. which I guess explains why the installer isn't managing to sign it either ! ( this is using the Windows signtool )

Thanks for the suggestion, but I still see the same unsigned exe warning message from Windows. The problem is with the maintenance mode exe, i.e. the one that offers the repair/uninstall add/remove features selection.

Running IA2015 SP1 Premier on Windows 7, I've set the the project options to digitally sign the installer and this works fine. However the uninstaller is not being signed - is there a separate control for this that I've missed ? The only thing I've modified for this on the Sequence/Install page is to rename it to "Modify $PRODUCT_NAME$ Installation".

Got that thanks. Is there any way of doing this with the GUI or is it for the command line build only ?

Hi Anyone know if there is a convenient way of defining build time variables before starting IA on a Mac, similar to the way you can set up source path variables using .InstallAnywhere/140/Enterprise/preferences/com.zerog.ia.PathManager.properties They're not much use for automated builds if we can't set them up beforehand ! ( for anyone not using a Mac, no you can't just use export from the command line shell )

Any chance of a patch for installers that were generated with IA 2010 that will enable them to run on Windows 8 ( and Server 2012 ) ?

When running a built installer one of the first 'progress' messages displayed at the bottom of the screen during the actual install is "Extracting duplicates...". Anyone know what this refers to ? [ its not text in the project file ]

Ok, thanks for confirmation that I need all the files present - I had been wondering whether I could consolidate a couple of dozen project files into one using the Build Configurations feature, but if I need to generate all the files for all of the configurations every time I want to build a single one then that would be worse than now. ( I know the command line build has an option to ignore errors, unfortunately this makes it difficult to identify real errors. )

If my project file creates Windows and Linux installers, is there a way to build just the Windows installer without having to have all the files used to build the Linux installer available ? Currently when I ask it to "Build", InstallAnywhere reports missing "referenced" files even if they are not used for the Windows installer at all, which means I have to assemble both sets of platform files even if I want to generate only one installer. I had hoped the Build Configuration and/or Tags features would help with this, but apparently not.
