I found the answer. I wanted to know the bare minimum files needed to install/detect a vm. It's the install anchorservice.exe and the FNP_AnchorService.dll (or similar name - can't remember off the top of my head)

I've looked and attempted to run the installanchorservice.exe with no luck. I ran "installanchorservice.exe vendor FEATURE" and still do not get the VM_UUID. I'm running a Hyper-V instance of Windows 10 pro. I'm also looking for the exact files to include for the client to install the anchor service.

I have successfully compiled everything in Windows 64bit. In order to give ONLY the required files needed, what is required to run a VM license? I know to make the SERVER line in the license have VM_UUID, but in Linux, I run install_fnp.sh. In Windows, what are the .exe and .dll files needed to install the correct binaries to detect a virtual machine presence? The customer will run on a Hyper-V hypervisor. I need to detect the VM_UUID and lmcrypt the correct license. Also, if anyone knows how to use packaging? We have a license with the same features but one locked at 6.3 and one locked at 5.8. If users running 5.8 gets the license first, flexnet will checkout version 6.3 of the FEATURE first. I want them to get the 5.8 license features, because when user two tries to checkout 6.3, only the 5.8 FEATURE is still available. Could you help out with that?

That's exactly what I was looking for! Hand holding to a certain degree 😉

*sigh* And that is what package? In linux, there is a publisher folder with install_fnp.sh. In Windows, there's the lmadmin.exe file in the publisher folder which isn't it.

I found out that the VM_UUID and ETHER will always change in a dynamic EC2 instance. The best bet is to bind to the AMZN_EIP in my case. I'm waiting on support to figure out my current keys don't support the hostid type for EIP on the SERVER line - I told them this to begin with. I told them to refer to a previous case to see what is needed.

It was the vendor keys not supporting the feature in the server line and the fact that I didn't have the FNPublisherService running in CentOS. Now for Windows - I'm not sure what needs to run to get the UUID of a VM.

I actually went out and got a Raspberry Pi 4 with a ARM64 quad core. I'll just set it up on that. I discovered that most router ARM is only 32bit and the Flex toolkit doesn't support ARM 32.bit.

Ok, well their support is lacking severely. I opened a case for AMZ_EIP on Aug 10 and just now got a response. If someone out there is familiar with compiling it? I have entitlements for Embedded for ARM64, and have a gcc environment on my ARM device, just unsure about the compile.

What would be the best type of license to run on an Amazon EC2 (AWS) CentOS 7 instance? Just bind it to the VM_UUID or ETHER and I should be good, right? Any limitation by logging to a text file on lmgrd startup? Edit: Flexnet 11.13.2 is being used currently. Working on compiling 11.17.1.0 with VM_UUID support.

I use Flexnet Publisher 11.16.5 and have two questions I haven't gotten answered: 1. How can I tie to a unique identifier of a VM (like VM_UUID) that cannot be duplicated? It's easy to copy a VM with the same UUID and it's easy to bring up a network interface with a licensed MAC address to duplicate the license. I want to tie it to something unique that cannot be duplicated. For example, the MAC of the Host network adapter and the host's hard drive serial number... Something like that. Using a dongle is not ok in this case. The client uses a Hyper-V Windows 7 Enterprise VM to run the license. I want to prevent piracy. 2. How can I use publisher to generate an activation key? Like back in the day, you would enter a serial number on a shareware program to unlock all or some of the features? I'd like to be able to license maybe 3 simultaneous runs (instances) and up to 8 CPU. We license features as APP_USERS and APP_CORES with the expiration date.

I have a few routers running Broadcom 5300 chips (dual ARM) and then a few running BCM4k series (MIPS74k). I have Tomato and JFFS enabled and running ENTWARE so I can install a few packages. Can you let me know the easiest way to cross-compile the binaries to run on the embedded router devices using open-source Linux as the firmware? Or is it only compatible on OpenWRT?
