I apologize for taking so long to get back to this but I had completely missed the fact that you had replied. My mistake This table does at least reports some results. But it appears to be missing a lot. . For example, I have an entitlement that allows 10 possible activations. It says that 7 are still available. Yet when I run a report against anything in that table with that entitlement ID I get exactly one single result. I would expect to get 3. And when I run a report against it with the exact Line Item Activation ID, I get zero results Other activations similarly return not enough records to match actual uses. I am attempting to find the activation records on the FNO server for all activations associated with one particular activation ID. I've been trying to use the report functionality to do it (If there is a better way, please tell me). But I cannot get the reporter to return me any records even for the simplest of queries. I do not understand what I am doing wrong.
As background, our clients activate our software on Windows PCs. They paste an activation ID into a box in our software and then click a button. Our software uses FNE to contact our FNO server and activate the product on that unique host. This all works fine. The FNO Server shows the updated use counts. And the client can DE-activate also and the use count is properly adjusted.
So when I want to generate a report, in FNO, I navigate as follows: Reports >> Web Intelligence >> New Report >> Universe (as data source) >> ALM Fulfillments But no matter what fields I pick, no matter what filters (or NO filter) I choose, I get reports with no records returned. I do not see any other table with data to show me activation records. So how do I do this?

But will that button re-send the exact same email as before or will it again use the template? If I were to change the Upgrade email template with some correction and then even individually hit that button for every customer, would the re-sent email reflect the changes I had made or would it be the exact same messages as before?

I know I can run the Product Upgrade job to automatically (or manually) to make it generate new entitlement IDs for all products that are eligible and to send out emails to the customers. But what happens if I want to send the emails again. Is that possible? I have never actually done this and am about to do it for the first time. I have this fear that if I get one thing wrong, it might mess up the email. I might want to change the template again and try again. No matter how much I practice it on the UAT. So is it possible to just make the server manually send the upgrade emails again? If so, how?

When we first got FlexNet operations we got access to a Production server and a UAT Server. Our production server works fine but when I try to navigate to our UAT Server using the URLs that have always worked, I just get a page with this message

Some of our customers must use offline activation. Sometimes there is a delay beforey they can take the response file we sent to them and actually ingest it to activate the license. Today a customer was unable to process the response and the error message from FlexNet Embedded (which we use to process the response) was something to the effect of "The time has expired to process the file" (Sorry I do not have the exact text). Is there a way I can generate activation responses that a customer can process weeks later? Is there some FNO server setting or some option I can add when creating the activation request? I've looked through all the FNO configuration as well as the FNE API and I cannot find anything -Joe

Obviously the version given to each feature affects whether or not you can check that feature out. If my feature is version 3.0 and I try to check out with version 3.1, it won't work. But how does the version given to a product affect things? I am required to give each product a version string when I create it. And it is separate from the product title so I assume it must have some separate relevance. Specifically 1. Does the version string have any effect on how entitlements or checkouts are processed? 2. Is it valid to give a product a version like say, "3.x" instead of "3.0"

OK, so in a nutshell, the reason for enabling upsell on a maintenance is mainly that it lets us define the scope of upsells during manual, bulk operations. Is that it? I'm asking this because after I set up these products, relationships, and maintenance, I am handing the work of entitlements to another person who does not know FNO like I do (and I clearly have much to learn). I was mostly concerned with avoiding unintentional upsell entitlements from occurring. If my understanding is correct It sounds like the chances of that are minimal since the user would be required to manually run a bulk operation and manually choose "upsell". Also I wanted to avoid the possibility of NOT checking that "Allow Upsells" option and then later finding out that I should have. Because even on the test server I've found that once you create a maintenance, you cannot later go into it and alter those options. Sounds like it's safe to allow. Thanks

I'm trying to understand the practical effects of the 3 radio button options that I get when creating a maintenance. Specifically "Allow Upgrades", "Allow Upsells", and "Allow Renewals" Suppose this is my product line
MyApp Basic (3 features) version 1.0
MyApp Pro (5 features) version 1.0
I want any customer who has "Basic 1.0" and active maintenance to be able to automatically get an entitlement for "Basic 1.1" if their maintenance is active when its released. But I don't want them to be able to automatically get any version of "Pro". I understand that the product upgrade job will automatically generate upgrade entitlement line items when I properly specify the Upgrade From/To relationships. But What if I make Pro an "Upsell" of "Base" and then enable it on the maintenance? Does that mean the upgrade job will automatically create an entitlement so that the user can go from "Basic 1.0" to "Pro 1.0" or "Pro 1.1" Or would the person creating an entitlement still need to manually create an "upsell" entitlement for the user And if the answer is the latter, what is the point of "Allow Upsells" when creating a maintenance? What does it do?

We've been using FNE and with an FNO server for our software for a couple of years. But our idea of maintenance has always been a manual, crude process because I frankly do not understand how FNO Maintenance Line Items work. I need to make this easier on my company. (We do not use FNO software delivery so I am hoping that Maintenance Line Items are not only intended for that feature) My problem is that even after re-reading through the entire "FNO User Guide", "Using FlexNet Operations", "Getting Started" and even reference, I still don't understand how I can use Maintenace. I see that "A maintenance is an unlicensed product that represents additional rights that a customer can purchase. " . And there are instructions on how to create them and relate them to products. There's even a diagram showing them alongside line items. But nowhere can I find a good description of how they work. I can't find an example use case, an API to relate them or any sample code about them. Is there further documentation (or a section of the manual) that I am missing somewhere?

Oh dear, I was starting to reply to you that I got it from the entitlement summary. I thought that column I was looking at represented the # of uses. Now (maybe the 6th time I'm looking at it) I finally realize that it is "Available Quantity" So instead of having used 43 of 50 licenses, we've only used 7. Which makes a lot more sense. I am so sorry for having wasted your time. I feel like an idiot.

I have a licensed product that represents my company's "Internal" license. It gives a user access to all of our products features, including ones in development. Needless to say the code for this is only given out to employees. I created an entitlement for it with 50 uses. FNO tells me that 43 of them have been used already. Something is wrong here as my company has 15 employees and not nearly that many machines. So I tried to use FNO to track it down. I went to devices and searched for all devices associated with that activation ID. It only showed me 9 devices, each of which only has a quantity of 1. If this code has been activated 43 times, how can there only be 9 different devices showing up? More importantly, how do I determine who activated this code the other 34 times? Is there a way I can search the request history by activation ID/entitlement ID? I should add we use a permanent uncounted license model

The language about Device "Return" in the documentation sounds forbidding: Returning a device is an irreversible action What does that mean exactly? Does it mean I can never use that device to activate licenses again? My devices are all PCs. The device I'm thinking about has uninstalled our software (which does the activation and deactivation) and deleted trusted storage without ever-deactivating an entitlement. So the license is permanently allocated but will never be used again by that PC. Since this entitlement is actually internal, for employees in my own company (not a customer) I thought I might just manually "return" the device to make the license available in the pool again. But that language concerns me. I want to understand the consequences of this being "irreveresible" before I do it. For example, If someone were to try to re-install our software on this PC and then activate an entitlement -- any entitlement -- after I had manually returned the device, would it even work? Or is the machine permanently disqualified from future activations?
