exe files randomly started running when I build my visual studio app.
I'e been using installshield for a few months now. Well, after I renamed a couple of things, when I built my installshield project, not once but twice, this random executable runs. Now the .exe file is supposed to run after the initial installshield activex finishes installation. Can someone please help me here. It is extremely annoying. Even if I remove it completely from the Custom Actions it continues to run.
When is the executable running? I would say to try a couple of things.
Disable all the custom actions in the project for a test and see if it still comes up. You can also create a verbose install log and see what action is taking place when the executable is running.
It is executing during the building process. It goes for a few seconds and then runs the executeable twice.
I have tried removing all custom actions and it still runs it. I've even gone in and manually removed all references to the .exe (in which I put back) but it still ran no matter what I did or removed.
Are you running the full versions of IS? As far as I know limited edition does not have build events. It would have to be something else launching the executable.
