I haven't seen a clear description or purpose for this file called "media.inf". I saw this response from Dave Johnson in one of the threads:
"If you are using single JAR archive or directory archive, the media.inf is not required. When extracting resources, it will always assume that "disk 1" is available if there is no media.inf."
Is this still a true statement? I have removed this file and never had any install problem in any type of installer package generated (jar only, bundled launcher, or launcher+jar).
Anyway, I hope this file (if still needed) will be mentioned in the documentation for future release of any InstallShield product that uses it.
