Hello everyone, I am looking at securing an InstallShield 2008 Premier Edition build (burned to CD) so that it can only be run on one machine, and if the user hands the CD over to another user, the second user will not be able to run the install again. Does anyone know a way to incorporate that kind of feature into a build (something like a counter, so that somehow the install knows it has been run once already)? I use InstallScript to create the builds. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Usually, this involves some kind of registration process in the software. At one end, the installer could open a URL (using XCopyFile with a URL and arguments), as could the software, and a web site at your end could keep track; at the other end is something like FLEXnet Publisher, with more enforcement at both ends...
