Leave installed file after uninstall
Does anyone know how to get the installer to leave files on the disk that are installed with the Files action?
There is one file that I install at install time, that I do not want to uninstall at uninstall time.
I don't see any options on the Files action to let you do this.
Thanks,
Joe

i assume the project type is basic msi.
map the file under a seperate component and change the permanent option of that component to yes.
will work

No, this is not MSI specific. I'm simply installing a file via the 'Files' action, and I don't want it uninstalled.
The only way I could get it to work was to use the files action to copy it to a temp directory. Then use the 'file copy' action to copy it to the right place. Then there is an property on the "file copy" action that says 'delete on uninstall' which I can set to false.
While this works, it's completely bogus. The basic functionality of an installer should support this. I basically want to turn off logging the file to the uninstaller command file.
Thanks,
Joe
