InstallShield 2019 Standalone Build - Prerequisites

Jump to solution

Hello

We are trying to install InstallShield 2019 Standalone Build on our build agents on which are installed older Standalone Build versions.

The installer asks to install the following components (see picture attached) :

  • Windows Installer 3.1 (x86)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistribuable Package (x86)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistribuable Package (x86)
  • MSXML 6.0 SP1
  • MSXML 6.0 SP1 (x64)
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Update3 Redistribuable Package (x86)

First question : these components must always be installed independently or they come with a version of Windows, .Net Framework, VS ?

Does using IS2019 will create packages for our clients that will have new constraints or limitations (OS ? others) ?

Thank you,

Pierre.

Hi @clecoutre ,

I doubt install condition for specific software on Windows Server 2012 R2 had failed due to some reason.Let me attach updated pre-requisite  file here:can you give it a try for resuming SAB installation after replacing this pre-requisite file in SetupPrerequisites folder?

If that dint help you can try manually installing it and proceed.Link to download the installer:

Thanks,

Jenifer

Hi @pgarnier ,

The dialog which you see is of pre-requisites need to be installed to get Stand-Alone build working.On clicking install they will get  installed one by one.

Generally Installshield will detect if these softwares are there on your machine if not it will ask you to install(Which comes as added into SAB installed)

Answering to your questions:

First question : these components must always be installed independently or they come with a version of Windows, .Net Framework, VS ?

Few might come with windows like windows installer & .Net framework.VS redistributables we might need to install.

 Does using IS2019 will create packages for our clients that will have new constraints or limitations (OS ? others) ?

Not at all.It will be as like as previous versions of SAB installers.

Thanks,

Jenifer

Hi @Jenifer ,

When we click on Install, we are getting an error message saying that Windows Installer can't be found (see attach file).

We have checked, and the file "Windows Installer 3.1 (x86).prq" is present at the root level of the installer.

We also tried to download the installer again, same problem.

Should we manually install all these prerequisites ?

For information, we are running on Windows 2012 R2 Server.

Thanks,

Christophe

Hi @Jenifer,

After placing the updated prerequisite file in setup folder, the SAB installation run without asking for any prerequisites to install.

Thanks a lot,

Christophe

Hi @pgarnier

First question: you may install only the additional packages that you will use in your install app.

Second question: You may decide which constraints your app will follow using the pre-requirements setup that will analyse the environment and decide how to proceed depending on the constraints rules you have provided.

Cheers.
