Changing Error Messages (Basic MSI)
During a patch, a possible error displayed is "ERROR_PATCH_TARGET_NOT_FOUND".
Is there a way to change that message so the user has something more useful to see?
I tried the Direct Editor (Error) section and added 1642 but it didn't work.
Thanks.

In general, adding the error number and message to the Error table should do the trick; what specifically is being displayed?

I'm not sure Robert, as the question was given to me by another developer in our company.
Is the Error Table different than the error list shown in the direct editor? When I look up Error Table in the help it seems to be different. How can I access/add to that table?

No, they're the same: the Direct Editor view shows the raw MSI tables, so the Error item in there is the Error table from your ISM project file, to be built into the Error table of your MSI...

I assume that if a Windows Installer error message that is pre-defined, which does not exist in that table, is not changeable then.
Thanks for the information.

Hmmm... If the MSI is displaying the message, you should be able to add the Error record...
