Auto uninstall before installing.
I am trying to set up an install that will automatically uninstall the previous version before installing the new version.
I know you can set it up to tell the user that they have to go to add/remove programs uninstall then run install. But I want this all in one install and to offer to automatically uninstall. Lab windows does this, so there must be a way to do it.
I guess I could to this in the script but I was hoping it was just a matter of setting the options?

You need to create a major upgrade and set it to 'completely uninstall old setup before installing new setup'.
Hope this help.

Thanks but when I do that it just crates another Add/remove item with the same name but different version.
It help says to " give it a path to the previous versions" but no example.

Please ensure that you have followed all the required elements of creating a major upgrade. It sounds like you may want to verify that your Major Upgrade item in Media -> Upgrades points to the previous version correctly.

Ok I figured it out.
I did not quite understand the "Add major upgrade item"
I did that and set it to "products sharing my upgrade Code"
and "An earlier version" and it now uninstalls them all
Thanks.
