Admin Privileges

We have an application to install on tablets. The initial installation needs to install prerequisites and write to the registry so it requires admin privileges to run. That's fine and works. Then we give the tablets to employees that do not have admin privileges and log in as standard users in the field. When an application update is required we want the standard user to be able to download and install it. Is this possible? If so, how?

Hello,

If the application update includes files to be updated in the admin controlled folder locations, or protected registry locations, Standard user would still not be able to do it. And this is as per access privilege designed by Microsoft.

Some MSDN blogs to help you:-

I'm sure that I have done installers using other versions of Installshield that temporarily elevate user privaleges just for the installation. Of course I've been wrong before. Has anyone else made this work.
