About MDAC 2.7 SP1 Installation on Windows Vista
I am getting following error when i try to install patch of my product.
"MDAC 2.7 SP1 can't be installed on this machine. MDAC 2.7 SP1 requires any one of the configuration 98, 2000, XP etc". Refer attachment.
MDAC is installed as part of dependency for one of the component. I install main product with same settings. I don't get any error while installing main product. But when i derive patch from main product i get this error.
Any suggestions why this problem is coming. I tried modifying the VB script for the merge module as directed in installsite. But still same problem.
My curiosity is why this error in patching and not while installing main product ?
Regards,
Amarjeet

I don't think that you can install MDAC on Windows Vista. It is replaced by Windows Data Access Components (WDAC) which is integrated into the operating system. If you have trouble with WDAC, you can refer to the following link to troubleshoot Windows DAC/MDAC.

Hope that helps.
