File Evidence - "Not For recognition " is not identifying installed application

Hi All,

One of our users is running a licensed application directly from a standalone .exe file on their PC, without installing the application. Flexera has detected the file evidence, but it is assigned to an application with an existence rule of "Not for Recognition." As a result, the software does not appear in the list of installed applications.

How can we resolve this issue to ensure that the software is recognized correctly?

Regards,
Sasi

Hi Sasi,

In theory you could manipulate the recognition directly in the database, but it would probably be overwritten by the ARL update process. So it's not a practical solution.

Instead, you can create your own application and

  • link the existing file evidence to it.
  • Or create a new file evidence and link that to your new application.

Either way, be sure to pick a proper "Existence rule"/"Recognition rule".
