GPO and msi version?

Hi guys. I have a group policy the installs my msi on a computers in a particular OU. If i open my msi in Developer, make changes and recompile it ...the GPO stops working. It does not recognize the modified msi. I have to re-create the GPO. What changed? The product id is the same, version is the same, i just added one more file and recompiled it.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

I'm no expert on what GPO requires and this might or might not be relevant but if you rebuild an ism then by default a new package code is generated each time. The package code is found under the summary information stream and is what uniquely identifies an msi database. You can modify this default behaviour under the releases view>product configuration> gnerate package code.

Of course, this is only relevant if you are rebuilding an msi (the windows installer project) from an ism (the developer project).
