    • Since SIM 5.4x the vSphere connector also grabs licensekey information if the account being used has the Global | License permission.

This data is stored in the inventory database inv.clientstoragedata as part of the json string. There is no synchronisation to SLM at the moment, but with access to the database you can retrieve the information and include it into a custom report

  2. VMWare 32core CPU rule - VMWare vSphere licenses

Dear all, I would like to know does Snow Software have incorporated VMWare CPU licensing metric rule: "for any software offering that we license on a per-CPU basis, we will require one license for up to 32 physical cores. If a CPU has more than 32 cores, additional CPU licenses will be required." https://news.vmware.com/company/cpu-pricing-model-update-feb-2020. When you assign servers, does the system notify you about it rule? Thank you

      Hi

Apologies that you have not had any feedback with regards to your question from the community.

The best thing to do would be to raise a case with our Support team via the Support portal, and they can then pass your question on to our licensing team who should be able to answer your VMWare CPU licensing Metric Rule question for you.

      Kind Regards

    • The report Discovered assets that are not inventoried do have a filter referring to Last logon.

This information does not exist in VMO, so that report does not show VMO data per default.

When you delete that filter you should see also VMO Discovery.

  3. Hi! Does snow has integration with VMware metering tool (https://cloudsolutions.vmware.com/cloud-provider/metering.html)? VMware`s connector we already have but there is not the information we want to see. Regards, Inese

    • This is the complete list of connectors that Snow provides in its SIM, so in short, no it does not have an integration to VMWare Cloud Metering. Submit an idea and if it gets enough interest (upvotes) it may get looked at.

  4. Hi All

    • If the app is showing that it's covered by a license added to snow you can go to list all licenses and search for the license, one of the fields is agreement... the agreement name will be there.

  5. What to do when SKUs are not found?

I am attempting to add a number of licenses for VMWare. The titles have SKUs associated with them but Snow does not find some of the SKUs or the titles.

What am I supposed to do? Is this an SRS issue and how would I address it because we aren't talking about a discovery issue but properly identifying a license so it can be properly discovered?

    Help and thanks.

    • Community Manager (Flexera Software)

Hi Bill, as we have million of records into our SRS database, to be analyzed and added, we have enabled a way to request priority to the ones you need. You have to simply open a case to our Support, attaching an excel file containing the requested information. Also getting those info is very easy and we've collected the steps into a couple of blog posts:     Once the record is confirmed, it takes not more than 48h to appear among the available definitions. You'll receive a notification from our engineers once the ticket is completed. Cheers, Ester Memoli   Customer Success Manager EMEA   Snow Software srl - Milano - Italia   Welcome to Snow! 6. Multiple VMware entries per computer

I thought I saw an entry a while back about this topic, but cannot find it now.

I am at SIC 5.18. I am seeing three entries per VMWare instance or computer. One shows the client agent version and the other two show the SIC version. Is there a reason I would need three entries per VMware Host or Guest?

The BIOS Serial number for the three same instances are different. That may be why it has three in inventory. But all this is doing is consuming extra SNOW licenses.

Anyone else seeing this or have a workaround?

    • Do you mean in SLM, when listing all VMware servers (hosts and guests) you see 3 records for each server? Here, running SIM 5.17 and SLM 9.5.0, I checked now and I see only one per server. Is that a behavior you started to notice after moving to 5.18?
