I want to install 32 and 64 Bit components using Installshield 2009/2011 Installscript/Installshield Engine. MyComponents32 --> WINSYSDIR Test_1.dll (32 bit) Test_2.dll (32 bit) Test_3.dll (32 bit) MyComponents64 --> WINSYSDIR64 Test_1.dll (64 bit) Test_2.dll (64 bit) Test_3.dll (64 bit) MyComponents32 should be copied to SysWOW64 and registered. MyComponents64 should be copied to System32 and registered. I have tried many combinations and settings but none of them worked as supposed. Without using WOW64FSREDIRECTION, Test_*.dll (64 bit) get copied to both SysWOW64 and System32! I have tried to disable/enable WOW64FSREDIRECTION using the events "Installing" and "Installed". MyComponents32 enable WOW64FSREDIRECTION MyComponents64 disable WOW64FSREDIRECTION --> Test_*.dll (32 bit) get copied but then i get the Error message: Test_1.dll (64 bit) could not be found! I've expected that by setting the Target to WINSYSDIR or WINSYSDIR64 all the background work should have been done and managed by Installshield, but obviously i am wrong! Any suggestion how to manage this?

abrasha wrote: As I remember MSI verifies these rules (REINSTALLMODE) only for "key files". That means if "key file" should be overwritten, all files of this component will be overwritten too; if "key file" should not - no files of this component will be copied. Why is such a simple action so complicated?! I have about 50 folders and subfolders with over 1000 files. Each component has 10s of independent dlls in its subfolders (no specific key file can be defined). All i want is to replace older files, "based on version or time stamp"!

abrasha wrote: Solution is to define REINSTALLMODE property: REINSTALLMODE=amus The Problem with REINSTALLMODE=amus is that it overwites all the files regardless of being user modified or not. I still have some user files which shouldn't be overwritten. Using REINSTALLMODE=omus doesn't work either. Even the older files with lower versions don't get replaced!

Using Installshield 2009 Installscript MSI, i want to update some quite old installation (installed with InstallScript 5) on a target system. Even though Components-> Never Overwrite (=No), some files which have newer version or newer date don't get overwriten. Is there anything i am not aware of? Thanks in advance

I would like to conditionally select/deselect different features: ProductAdd2005 ProductAdd2006 ProductAdd2007 ProductAdd2008 The condition is set in a file MYProduct.txt on the target machine. Productversion: 2005 or Productversion: 2006 ..... Using Basic MSI/(InstallScript MSI) is there any way to 1) determine the value from the file and then 2) set the feature's Install Level Property to 0 (so it doesn't get installed) at runtime? Thanks in advance

Using Basic MSI i want to install a product in a specified directory. The diroctory is already set in an environment variable (lets say: MYOLDDIR_VAR) on the target machine. MYOLDDIR_VAR=C:\myproduct2005 How to determine the value of this variable and how to initialize the destination folder (INSTALLDIR/TARGETDIR) with it? Thanks in Advance

1) Start the "Build process" 2) Click into the UI 3) The whole UI gets frozen so that the end of the "Build" must be awaited! Is there any way to cancel the "Build process" ratter than using the Task-Manager?!

It is obvious that they are in an alphabetic order. So maybe the workaround would be the naming of the Features.

In Setup Design/Features view: Moving "Not Visible" Features up or down (Ctl+Shift+Down/Up), the features jump back to their original place after reopening the project. How to save the order?

"Determining Whether a COM Server Supports Self-Registration: For InstallScript-based projects: InstallShield marks the file as self-registering."" I have a Dynamic File Link in a component and all the files should get registered. Self-Register option is set to YES. The appearance of the files is the same as any other files in other components! How does this mark look like? Is it a symbol or text or ....?
