My VAT Number is Being Rejected or Reported as Invalid. What Should I Do?
My VAT Number is Being Rejected or Reported as Invalid. What Should I Do?
If your business is registered in the EU and you have a valid VAT ID issued in your country of registration, then you should qualify for a VAT exempt account. If your VAT ID is being rejected by the billing system go through the following checklist:
- Make sure you are typing the VAT ID in the correct format, including the 2-character country code. The only characters allowed are letters, numbers, and spaces.
- Check that your VAT number is valid and verifiable on the EU website. If your VAT number is not verifiable on this website, then you must report this issue to the tax authorities in the country where you are registered.
