Title:

The Suite Project Dialog Image and Icon Resources Will Disappear Automatically when We Leave the Setup Idle.

Introduction:

This article explains the issue with a suite project where resource files are missing especially when we leave the installer open for some time (approximately 20 minutes if the installer size is more than 2 GB).

This issue is observed on both Windows 10 and Windows Server machines. Windows introduced new settings to delete residual files from the temp location to free up some memory, using cleanmgr.exe. These settings will take effect by default when the machine disk space is low which causes the suite project files to get deleted from temp location. To fix this issue, please follow the settings below on the machine where the user experiences this issue.

Resolution:

  1. On Windows 10 machines, go to settings and select the Home option.
  2. Select the System option then select "storage" from the list.
  3. There will be a button option "Configure Storage sense or run it now."
  4. Please turn off this option by turning off the button (refer to the file attachment).
  5. For Windows Server 2022 machines, the settings are different. Select Settings. Select the System option.
  6. Under System, please select the Storage option.
  7. Please click on "Configure storage sense" under storage.
  8. Please uncheck the option "Keep Windows running smoothly by automatically cleaning up temporary system and app files."
  9. Run the installer and the idle suite dialog icons and images will not disappear.
