strange problem on vista with msi

This happens on Vista if the msi file is launched for the install instead of the setup.exe.
The install went fine but when the program was launched, the following message showed up:
"setup must update files or services that cannot be updated while the system is running"
Then it required a reboot.
Anybody has seen this? How to fix it?

Did the UAC get displayed to elevate your priviledges? I have had to run some MSI's using MSIEXEC from an elevated CMD prompt to fix some UAC issues.
