setup.exe keeps running after setup finished
I have a setup.exe based on Installscript built with InstallShield 2010 After the installation finishes the setup.exe process appears in the task manager for long time. Is there a way to force it to unload after the GUI disappears or to somehow keep GUI active until it finishes?

Hi,
All Setup will close once your installation is complete.
Check in OnFirstUIAfter Sequence if you are running any thats holding your setup up to complete.

Hi,
What we have seen since we migrated to IS 2010, is that setup.exe keeps on running for around 30 seconds once the installation has finished.
In our configuration, it does not have consequences, but it does not give a good impression to our customers!

- What do you call "long time"?
- Does setup.exe eventually exit? Or does it run there forever?

setup.exe stays in the task manager up to 1 min.
As a consequence on Win 7 when the user starts the software using the shortcut the message appears requesting the user to chose repair or to continue.

The thing is: it really is an issue with setup.exe.
What setup.exe does during all this time is not really clear.
This time was twice as short when we built our setup with IS 2008.
Our project also generates an MSI file. When installing by double-clicking the MSI file, this issue does not occur, as setup.exe is not executed.
As we use MSI, our application is actually able to start as soon as the installation has finished, while the setup.exe process is still running.
