"vital product data registry in use" error
Hi,
I have a product 1.0 and 2.0, both built by 11.5 MultiPlatform on XP. 2.0 suppose to uninstall 1.0 automatically and install new features. but after "initializing wizard" pops up, a dialog box "The Vital Product Data registry is in use by another installer. Please start this installer after the other installation has finished" with "OK" button shows. after you click "OK", the installation proceeds.
any idea how to get rid of this error message?
ps: I have another version 0.0 built by 5.0 MultiPlatform. the upgrade from 0.0 to 1.0 and from 0.0 to 2.0 all show no problem.
thank you

You can not run two installers that use the same registry at the same time. In order to do this, each would have to access a different registry. In the case of the 5.0 multiplatform installation you do not have that problem when running it from the 11.5 installation because they use different registries.
