msiexec /uninstall
Hi,
I need to uninstall old version of product before proceeding with my new version of product. Unfortunately, both has different product code. Hence, I have tried to uninstall the old version using "msiexec /uninstall" before installing the newer one. But, it didn't completely remove the product and it shows the product name in "Add or Remove Programs". If I click "Remove", the product name is removed from the list within few seconds.
Can any one help me to solve this issue?
Regards,
Ganesh Kumar

Is your project InstallScript MSI type?
If so, apart from uninstallation using msiexe.exe, you'll have to delete an entry which is created during installation at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_

also, you could simply change the product code, but keep the upgrade code the same...also use the upgrade view to select "Completely uninstall old setup before installing new setup."
This way the upgrade can happen in one step.
