Visual Studio Redistributable problem on upgrade on Vista
IS project:
Consists of various components, BASIC MSI. Components are built using Visual Studio 2008. The components have VS 2008 merge modules associated with them.
Problem description:
On a XP machine everything works fine ( including upgrade).
On a Vista machine a fresh install of our software works fine.
On a Vista machine upgrading ( major ) of our software seem to take out the
VS redist - as a result of which, our software components ( that depend on these being present in the machine ) do not run ( they give an error , something like side-by-side assembiles missing or so )
Running the vcredist_x86.exe is not an option as it seems to create a seperate "Add remove programs" entry. Also, I am not sure if it can be run in the silent mode.
Anybody has come across this problem ? Any ideas ?
Your help is much appreciated...
