Signing setup.exe
I have a project imported from IS11.5. In the old version I was asked for the password for signing just once, after the CAB files had been built. In this version I have been asked to enter the password six times before I got fed up and cancelled the build. It seems to want to sign a whole bunch of tmp files! On top of that, the Enter Password dialog opens at the bottom of the Z order, so you have to watch the taskbar to see when it needs a password.
What do I need to change to make it act sensibly?

The best thing (in terms of least pain) to do is convert your SPC+PVK files into a PFX file and supply the password in the release setting. Passwords for PFX files can be handled transparently. Just so you know what's actually being signed, these tmp files are probably the icons (such as for advertised shortcuts) stored as resources in PE files, and are signed for compliance with Vista Logo Certification requirements.

What's a PFX file and how do I create one?

The InstallShield help topic "Digital Signing and Security" (search the help for "pfx") has information about it.
