Read Path from registry
hello all,
I 'd like to build an installer for a program which I want to be installed in the Flight Simulator 2004 main directory. What should I do so that Installshield 2008 can understand which is the correct path for FS2004? Where should I enter the registry entries? I know that to read the FS2004 path I have to enter the following values, but I don't know where!:
Root key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0
Sub-key: EXE Path
Thank you

You'll want to take a look at the System Search view, which populates the AppSeach and related tables, and possibly at the native MSI custom action to set a directory.

The system search settings look fine from what the screenshot. However, on the next panel of the System Search wizard, what settings did you select (i.e., are you storing the search result in a property, using the result as destination of a component, etc.)?
