Okay, first off let me say I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge on this product, and OS X. I've never used an installer app before and I'm a Windows guy.
My problem is that I'm trying to get my project to work on OS X. In doing some reading on the forums it looks like I'm not the only one to have this issue. I have my application files, 'name.app' that when I bring over to the Mac it doesn't see it as an executable. In looking around a work around might be to some how have the installer unzip a zip file into the install folder that way it would preserve my files as an .app and not show it up as a folder structure.
