Non-Express ism to Express ism conversion
Hi,
I have an .ism which is created using InstallShield (version 12) premier edition. Now we are planning to upgrade to InstallShield 2009 Express. We tried to open our ism file with the evaluation copy of InstallShield 2009 Express. It gives the following error. It shows like our ism is a non-Express version. How to convert this non-Express version to Express version.
Thank you for your comments in advance.
Error:
'C:\file_name.ism' cannot be opened by the Express version of InstallShield because the project appears to have been created with a non-Express version of the product

You will not be able to open an .ism file in the Express edition. The Express edition does not support that; it is much more limited than the Premier and Professional editions.
If you want to upgrade your project to InstallShield 2009, you will need to get the Premier or Professional edition.
The only alternative that I can think of, if you are considering Express instead of Premier or Professional, is that you would have to re-create your entire project from scratch in the Express edition. However, the Express edition does not offer as much flexibility as the other editions. Here's a help topic that explains some of the differences between the three available editions:
Upgrading from Other InstallShield Editions
So, the Express edition may not provide you with all the functionality that you need.
