The Express edition of InstallShield lets you build an Express project type. When you are build an Express project, InstallShield creates an .msi database. (Note that depending on your release options, you may also create a Setup.exe file, as well as other files. The .msi file may be streamed into that Setup.exe file.)
Does that answer your question?

I am asking a follow up question.
I do not see a way in Express to create an MSI install, it only creates a CD or Single Setup File or a few other options, but no where that I can see does it generate an MSI that I can distribute.
How do you get just an MSI?
Thanx
Bodger

In the Releases view, select the release type that you want to build. On the Setup.exe tab, in the Setup Launcher setting, select No.
Note that in some cases, a Setup.exe file is required. For more information, see Creating a Setup Launcher.
