Language of 'Choose Setup Language' dialog

I am making an InstallScript MSI installer which provides as installer language german, french and italian.

When I start the setup, the first dialog appearing is the "Choose Setup Language" with "Select the language for this installation from the choices below".

In what language does this dialog appear?

I have:

  • WinXP EN where the dialog shows in french
  • WinXP EN where the dialog shows in german
  • WinXP DE where the dialog shows in english
  • Vista DE where the dialog shows in german


I would just like to know what the rule is.

What are the respective machine's Language for non-Unicode programs set to? You can find this in the last tab of the Regional and Language Options item in the control panel.
