I have a installshield application which is running in the maintenance mode. During the time of files copy, one of the file (say MyApp.exe) is getting locked by some other process and is not getting over written. but it saves as MyApp.rra format in the same target location.
This is happening in windows server 2008, If i reboot the OS this MyApp.rra file get overwritten on MyApp.exe.
Is there any solution available for this issue instead of Re-boot? if so could you please share to me?
if another application has a lock on the file, there is no way to force it to be freed that I am aware of.
keep in mind if the file is part of a service that file will be in use if the service is running and the only way to change that would be to stop the service or reboot the machine.
