Is it possible to create a Patch Configuration using the automation interface?

Can I use the automation interface to create a patch configuration? (ISPatchConfiguration)

InstallShield Automation Layer does not provide an option to create patch, however it gives option to build an exisitng patch configuration using:
--BuildPatchConfiguration
--BuildPCPFile

Either implement the full interface for automation or dont event start.
Does it make any sense to be able to automate just a part of the release process?
