Info about .ipr file?

Could any1 let me know about .ipr file.
I am new with Installshield and need to create an installer with Installshield Professional 2008 edition within the existing code i have a .ipr file which i m not able to comprehend.

The ipr file will not be recognized by explorer, but you can open it using installshield 2008 and then it will be converted to an IS 2008 project.

The ipr file is not neccessary anymore after the conversion and you can use the .ism file (in IS2008) or the .sln file (in Visual studio).
