How to return command line results from calling .exe?

How can I get the results of calling an .exe file returned to InstallShield.

We call an .exe with LaunchApplication. The .exe displays results. I need InstallShield to capture those results for processing.

I'm not aware of anything built in; common practice seems to be to redirect the output to a text file, and then read the file.
